ANTICIPATED VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: Teacher of the Visually Impaired – Long Term Sub

Tupper Lake Central School District (EO/AAE) is currently accepting applications for the following position:
Teacher of the Visually Impaired – Long Term Sub

January 1, 2022 – June 30, 2022

Application Deadline: Until Filled

• All candidates must possess New York State teacher certification in their subject area or qualify to obtain it by the first date of employment.
• The TVI will travel between buildings to provide services, consult with classroom teachers and administrators as well as ensure that each visually impaired student on the caseload has the appropriate materials and equipment to succeed in their classroom.
• Prepare and present formal reports to the Committee on Special Education in regard to the vision needs of individual students and consult with general and special educators regarding the selection of specific materials and program modifications required by the student
• Arrange for the selection and purchase (if necessary) of adaptive equipment required by the student and provide direct instruction in Braille as needed
